Giffnock Hockey

Giffnock Hockey Club has a ladies, gents section and from end August 2011 a new juniors section.

We have 4 ladies teams participating in both National  and  West District leagues. We have players competing at the highest level
for both club and country, as well as player-coach of the ladies 1st XI, Rhona Simpson, a triple Olympian.

2 teams compete in National League Division 1 and National Reserve League, with the ladies 3’s and 4’s playing in the West District leagues.

Our gents section comprises 3 teams, again playing at National or District level. The 1st XI compete in National League Division 3,
with the 2nd and 3rd XI playing in the West District leagues.

Gents and ladies 3’s and 4’s training takes place on a Monday night from 8pm til 10pm at Mearns Castle pitch.

The new gents coach is Chris Caldwell. Gents pre-season fitness has begun and is on Monday nights meeting at the club from 7pm.

Ladies 1s and 2’s (also open to any ladies wishing to train) training is on a Wednesday evening 6pm until 8pm
at Hutchesons’ Grammar School pitch.

Our junior coaching will begin soon – more information will be available shortly on this. There will be programmes in place for primary school and secondary school ages players.
