After a successful summer of tennis at the club, the summer nights are drawing to a close…but with a new coaching team in place, these are exciting times for Giffnock and the Autumn Tennis Programme looks bright!

Adults

The Social Tennis sessions on Thursday and Sunday evenings are just as the name suggests.  Doubles and Mixed Doubles matches are organised among the members themselves, with the emphasis on Fun match play. So regardless of your standard…get down and get socialising!

New Members Group Coaching - Thursday evenings @ 7pm

This FREE coaching session has already proved popular this year, as it is a great opportunity to enhance your tennis and meet other new members.
And why not stay for the social tennis at 8pm and put your new improved skills into practice!  Look forward to seeing you there… you will be made most welcome.

Giffnock is always looking to welcome new members…and the above sessions are a great play to get playing when you join.

Look out for further additions to the adult coaching programme in the coming weeks.

Juniors

Giffnock T.C. offers FREE club coaching to all mini-tennis members and junior members.  There is a variety of coaching on throughout the week for all ages and abilities.

Mondays is Junior Club Day…from 4.30 – 6pm you can enjoy playing matches with other junior members.  For current and aspiring junior team players, there will be Boys and Girls Team Training on Thursday evenings.

Sunday is the main coaching day for all junior members.  These sessions are FREE and are a MUST if you want to improve your tennis.  Players will develop their technical and tactical skills in a Fun environment. 3 sessions run between 4 and 7pm: 4pm – Starters, 5pm – Improvers, 6pm – Intermediate.  Feel free to ask the coaches if you are unsure which group is best for you.  First Session 26th August.

New for Autumn 2007 – Junior / Team Practice.  This new session will aid both the junior players - in their transition from the junior to senior teams – and the seniors in developing their match play skills.  This session, which is invite only, starts Friday 31 August.

Mini-Tennis (5-8 yr olds)

Giffnock is one of few clubs to offer specialist mini-tennis courts.  The smaller court size and net height contribute to positive learning experience for the young player.  On Wednesdays, Giffnock provides mini-tennis coaching to members and non-members.  There are two mini-red classes: 4-5pm (5-6yrs) and 5-6pm (7-8yrs).  Saturdays are for members only and again there are two classes: 2-3pm (5-6yrs) and 3-4pm (7-8yrs).  At these sessions children will learn the basic techniques and tactics of tennis, while having loads of Fun at the same time.  Starts Saturday 25th August.

On Sundays (members only) there are mini-tennis match play sessions.  Players will develop match play knowledge, through increasing their understanding of the rules, knowledge of how to score, knowing what is in/out… etc.  Separate sessions will run for Mini-Red (2-3pm) and Mini-Orange players (3-4pm).  Starts Sunday 26th August.

All mini-tennis sessions are free of charge to members.  If you are unsure on the most appropriate times for your child to attend, you are encouraged to call the coaching staff for advice.

The combination of qualified coaching staff and excellent facilities makes Giffnock the ideal club start playing tennis.
