Obituaries - Two Club members who passed away recently

Craig MacRitchie (1991- 2007)
As most members will know, Craig died on 28 December 2007 following a road traffic accident on 24 December 2007.
His memorial service was attended by a large number of club members.

Martin Powell (1938 - 2008)

Martin died on 5 January 2008 following a period of illness.  His funeral was well attended including over 30 club members and Norman Speirs spoke eloquently at the funeral service.
Both the attendance of club members and Norman's speech were greatly appreciated by Martin's family and an email to Norman from Martin's son Tony was as follows:
"Norman, thank you for your sterling efforts during the last month or so culminating in your speech in the church which was nothing short of brilliant.
It had Dad down to a tee as well as bringing some much needed hilarity to a sombre occasion.
I reckon Dad would have given it 10 out of 10!"
(For those unable to attend the funeral, this was a reference to Norman recounting that a few days earlier he had told Martin a joke and got no response.
Martin was pressed to respond by giving a rating out of 10 to the joke, to which he responded silently with a V sign.  This was well received by the congregation.)

"Also if you would be so kind to pass on our  thanks to the huge number of people from the tennis club who took time out of their own lives to pay their respects to my father on Friday.
The turn out at both the church and the hotel afterwards was quite overwhelming.

 Thank You
 Tony, Jonny and Joyce"
